Integrated Biometrics, a developer of fingerprint-based biometric authentication systems, has announced the successful testing and approval of their TRU650 fingerprint solution by the U.S. Transportation and Security Administration to be placed on the TSA Biometrics Qualified Product List (QPL) for Access Control.
As part of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, the TSA is required to advise airports on the installation of biometric security for access control over sensitive areas. The QPL serves as a list of options for the various airports that need to implement the extra security measures. The first set of testing for the TSA was completed by the International Biometrics Group, however, there is an additional trial for the technology scheduled for the first quarter of next year to take place at the Boston International Logan airport.
