Intermec Receives Frost & Sullivan Award for Asia Pacific RFID Market Strategy Leadership
[10/04/06] Intermec Inc., an RFID pioneer and global RFID technology leader, has received an award from Frost & Sullivan for RFID market strategy leadership in the Asia Pacific market for the years 2005-2006. The Frost & Sullivan Award for Market Strategy Leadership is presented each year to a company whose market strategy has yielded significant gains in market presence during the research period. The award is based on Frost & Sullivan’s thorough understanding of the innovation and diligence required to execute a successful business strategy and achieve distinction in an increasingly competitive global market arena. The award is presented to the company whose market strategy has achieved outstanding performance in 2005.
Award nominees were evaluated on a number of critical criteria, including annual market share growth, end-user acceptance of its products, product differentiation, ratio of marketing investment to market share increase and website effectiveness. Frost & Sullivan typically recognizes companies that have applied traditional methods in innovative ways, as well as pushed the envelope with non-traditional methods. The award recipient has to have efficiently allocated resources to improve market share without affecting other performance factors. Frost & Sullivan analysts expect such innovations to produce lasting, precedent-setting trends in the industry.
“The 2006 Frost & Sullivan Market Strategy Leadership Award was presented to Intermec for its excellence in establishing itself in the AIDC technology space in Asia Pacific,” said Parul Oswal, Frost & Sullivan senior research analyst for RFID Technologies, Asia Pacific. “It is a leader in the development, manufacture and integration of wired and wireless automated data collection (and) RFID solutions in the transportation and logistics, consumer goods and industrial goods manufacturing markets. It has accelerated end-user acceptance of both its RFID and non-RFID solutions.”
According to Frost & Sullivan, the Asia Pacific market for RFID (radio frequency identification) tags and readers was estimated at $0.51 billion in 2005 and is likely to reach $ 2.33 billion by 2010.
