Texas-Based Financial Institution Chooses SAFsolution to Increase Network and Application Security
BELLEVUE, Wash.– Saflink Corporation, a leading provider of solutions that verify identity, secure access and increase productivity, announced that International Bank of Commerce (IBC) has selected Saflink SAFsolution Enterprise Edition 1.3 system for user authentication and network access. IBC, Texas’ largest multi-bank holding company, will deploy SAFsolution to 3,200 seats throughout its more than 200 branch and service center locations in Texas and Oklahoma.
SAFsolution allows IBC to replace weak traditional password-based security measures with biometric fingerprint readers. By mitigating the risk of lost or stolen passwords, SAFsolution’s strong authentication technology can provide more secure access to IBC’s network and critical business applications. At the same time, SAFsolution can reduce the demands on IT helpdesks by minimizing the need for password resets.
“SAFsolution provides the network and application security we felt was missing with traditional passwords,” said Chris Loehr, IBC Network Manager. “SAFsolution authenticates that our users are on the network when they say they are and provides much stronger safeguards against unauthorized access. At the same time, it also simplifies certain tasks by, for example, making it easier to provide supervisor overrides in some of our teller applications. We also believe SAFsolution will ultimately reduce demands on our helpdesk by 30 percent simply by eliminating the need for password resets. That’s going to help our overall productivity.”
Through a variety of strong authentication methods, namely biometrics and smart cards, SAFsolution boosts Windows network and workstation authentication security while enhancing ease of use. Tight integration with Active Directory makes system configuration and user profile management straightforward and efficient. IBC’s deployment also includes single sign-on capabilities, extending the benefits of secure single sign-on to the organization’s most frequently used applications.
“Because IBC’s network is so geographically diverse, it was important for the company to be able to simplify the password management process as much as possible,” said Glenn Argenbright, Saflink CEO. “SAFsolution allows the organization to replace traditional password management systems with unique identifiers, such as fingerprints, in order to more cost-effectively manage network and application access across all branches. By implementing Saflink’s identity assurance management software, IBC was able to obtain the kind of strong authentication it needed to protect against password sharing and increase employee ease-of-use when accessing critical applications.”
