iZettle has developed a new device that enables iPhone users to accept EMV chip card payments directly from their phone.
Designed with small businesses in mind, the compact iZettle plugs directly into the base of the iPhone to accept payments. Once connected, the device automatically launches the iZettle payment app, which prompts the user to punch in the amount owed.
The user then simply inserts the customer’s bank card into the slot on the device and hits ‘pay.’ The app securely connects to the customer’s bank to authorize the payment. The customer then draws his signature on the iPhone screen and enters his email address to receive a receipt.
iZettle also gives customers the option of sharing their purchases on Facebook, letting their friends know what they bought and where they bought it.
The device is expected to launch in Sweden next month before arriving in Europe later in the year, according to Recombu.com.
