The Kenyan government is in the process of training about 1,000 election commission officials to conduct biometric voter registrations, reports The Nigerian Tribune.
The voter registration kits include biometric fingerprints and facial features for voter identification.
The commission is under pressure to act quickly, as elections take place in four months, but the biometric kits, created in France, were delivered months behind schedule.
Training is taking place through week-long workshops around the country. Election coordinators believe that voter registration can be completed in one month, with verification following that. According to Kenyan law, the voter registration deadline is 60 days before the election, which will be held on March 4th.
