Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. and T&W Operations Inc. have teamed up to produce Kidtrack, an access control solution designed for children to use as they take buses to and from school.
Kidtrack uses Fujitsu’s PalmEntry physical access control system in the school bus environment. Children use the contactless biometric product for positive authentication and proof of location when on buses.
The PalmEntry system uses Fujitsu’s PalmSecure biometric technology to identify a person by the vein pattern in their palm. The system uses a near-infrared light to capture this pattern and can be matched through a contactless reader. Users can register with the system in under a minute, and the authentication process takes less than one second.
The Kidtrack system will be launched on March 19 at the Ohio Association for Pupil Transportation Conference and Trade Show in Dublin, Ohio.
