Lesley University, CardSmith to launch new ID card program
Massachusetts-based Lesley University, in partnership with Cardsmith, a campus card solutions provider, are rolling out a new multi-function ID card program, the Lesley Card, at the school’s Cambridge and Boston campuses. The card includes “CashLynx,” a pre-paid spending account that students, faculty and staff can use to make purchases at local businesses, as well as services on-campus.
“It’s exciting to be able to afford our students a new level of service, particularly one that encourages patronage of local businesses,” said Larry Carr, director of campus services. “The new cards bring campus safety improvements through enhanced identification and building access control, and give students, faculty and staff sophisticated management tools and services to access university services such as campus dining, bookstore and library services.”
Students, faculty and staff at the Art Institute of Boston at the Lesley campus can now use CashLynx at more than 50 nearby businesses which are connected through other institutions served by CardSmith, and outreach has begun to retail and dining establishments surrounding Lesley’s Cambridge campus.
“Members of the Lesley Community regard the Cambridge’s Massachusetts Avenue and Porter Square as a center of campus activity. It connects our urban campus and provides important amenities,” said Bill Doncaster, director of public affairs. Through the Lesley Card and its CashLynx function, we’ll be taking another step to encourage our students, faculty and staff to ‘shop local’ first.”
