Lumidigm has announced that they have been awarded the 2010 New Product Innovation of the Year Award for Fingerprint Biometrics in North America from research firm Frost & Sullivan.
Lumidigm is being recognized for its fingerprint sensors that, due to a compatible, small and light design, tout easy integration into existing systems and an above-average return on investment.
The innovation of the fingerprint sensors comes from Lumidigm’s multi-spectral technology, which uses multiple spectrums of light and polarization techniques to scan a fingerprint at the surface and slightly below the surface of the finger, that results in their fingerprint sensors not requiring contact with a finger to scan a user’s fingerprint.
Moreover, utilizing such technology that can scan below the surface of the finger removes issues traditional fingerprint scanners encounter with overly wet, dry, dirty or damaged skin.
