MaxID, a developer of rugged mobile computing devices, has announced the integration of face recognition capabilities from biometrics developer Animetrics to their iDLMax handheld identity management device. The technology from Animetrics is their two-dimensional to three-dimensional (2D to 3D) technology and the iDLMax is the first mobile computing device to utilize it.
The technology from Animetrics, Animetrics90 MobileID, communicates with its Facial Identity Management System to analyze the image captured in real-time. Additionally, it is capable of either one-to-one or one-to-many matching and the 2D to 3D technology can correct poor quality images as a result of pose and lighting issues. With the addition of the new technology, MaxID expects the iDLMax to be more than capable for identity verifications required for program like the Transportation Worker Identification Credential program or any other variety of smart card systems.
