McDonald’s rolls out contactless payments in Ireland restaurants

McDonald’s Ireland is working alongside Visa Europe for the anticipated roll out of contactless payments in its 83 hamburger fast food restaurants dispersed across the country, according to Business and Leadership.
Customers with contactless-enabled Visa credit and debit cards will be able to pay for transactions of €15 or less in all McDonald’s Ireland restaurants by simply touching their card to the terminal, without the need to enter their PIN.
The use of contactless technology is certainly nothing new to McDonald’s, who currently offers contactless payments in many areas around the globe including the United States, Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
Irish consumers spend 11.2 million minutes a year queuing for low value purchases and contactless payments offer an ideal solution to companies like McDonald’s who operate in a fast paced retail environment, where speed of service is key to customer satisfaction, said Visa Europe.
