Metalcraft announced availability of a destructible version of their RFID Windshield Tag designed for customers automating vehicle tracking and access control.
The Destructible RFID Windshield Tag is built with slits along the perimeter of the label which destroy the inlay if someone tries to remove it from a windshield–a security feature that helps reduce the threat of unauthorized vehicle access to restricted areas.
According to Metalcraft president Steve Doerfler, the Destructible RFID Windshield Tag is suitable for gated communities, secured parking and other applications protecting identification and property.
The tag is a 4-inch by 1-inch adhesive label that can be placed on the interior or exterior of automobile glass. The label provides a read range over 18 feet using a passive KSW Microtec Windshield RFID inlay.
The inlay sits between thin layers of polypropylene with a bar code and human readable information on one side and a windshield-compatible adhesive on the other. This encapsulation process protects the inlay from UV rays and reduces the effects of electrostatic discharge (ESD).
