Mobile, transit operators launch NFC payments system in Chongqing

Cqpass, an NFC payments system, has been rolled out in Chongqing, China that enables consumers to make payments for goods and services using a mobile phone. The project, following field testing, also involves mobile operator China Unicom, Chongqing Yucheng Transportation Card, mobile phone manufacturer Guohong Telecom and digital and smart card and SIM supplier Watchdata.
Two phone models are available, both using SIMpass from Watchdata. One model has the NFC technology built into the phone while the other is retro-fitted to existing handsets, making it compatible with 80% of current phones.
