Due to the increase of smart phones use for business in the U.S. and subsequently being relied upon for storing sensitive information, biometric security on mobile phones is expected to become much more widespread, according to an Internet News article.
Leading the way among biometric technology developers is BIO-key International who is planning the release of a new mobile biometrics platform.
In addition to the growing need for biometric security for corporate mobile phone users, ABI Research has predicted that mobile banking and person-to-person financial transactions over one’s phone are on their way and, too, will involve biometric authentication.
Another article from TMCnet expands on BIO-key’s planned offering noting that the biometric platform will allow app developers to utilize the platform to include biometric authentication in any of their applications. The platform will be based upon fingerprint authentication and is touted as being interoperable with all major fingerprint reader manufacturers.
