ID solutions provider Morpho has partnered with Simlink to launch a new key fob that equips any Wi-Fi enabled mobile phone with NFC technology.
The key fob contains a Morpho NFC-enabled SIM card with a secure application that hooks up to a mobile phone via Wi-Fi technology provided by Simlink.
“Equipped in this way, the key fob can help to deploy any kind of NFC service – such as contactless payments, mobile ticketing or loyalty services – enabled by an NFC SIM card, with any kind of Wi-Fi enabled mobile phone right now,” said Paul Naldrett, senior vice president for telecoms at Morpho.
According to Morpho, the key fob features the same technology used in the ConnectSIM card by Morpho and Telenor, the world’s first Wireless LAN-enabled SIM card.
The solution is now being demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
