Morpho unveils contactless fingerprint scanner
Morpho announced the commercial launch of Finger On the Fly, a contactless four-finger scanner. Using advanced imaging technology, this system simultaneously captures four fingerprints from a single wave of the hand. Finger On the Fly will be on display at the 2014 Global Identity Summit in Tampa, Fla. from Sept. 16-18.
Finger on the Fly delivers security through multi finger matching, and fast touchless convenience. Delivering high-resolution fingerprint capture in less than one second, Finger On the Fly is also the market’s fastest contactless biometric device.
Finger on the Fly ensures that markets and industries that need touchless operation can now also benefit from Morpho’s fingerprint technology. Finger On the Fly is suited for applications such as border control at airports, access control at sensitive and high traffic sites, flow management and a wide range of other situations where high speed enrollment and matching, as well as convenience and security are a priority.
TSA reached PreCheck milestone
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security achieved two major milestones for its trusted traveler programs. The Transportation Security Administration PreCheck application program, which began in December 2013, has now enrolled more than half a million travelers. Additionally, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has enrolled more than three million users in their trusted traveler programs: Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI.

TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening program that enables pre-approved airline travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on in select screening lanes.
The TSA PreCheck application program allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to directly enroll in the program Once approved, travelers will receive a “Known Traveler Number” and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA Pre✓™ lanes at select security checkpoints when flying on a participating carrier: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.

Datacard printers issue 40 million driver licenses
Datacard Group announced that in one year, more than 40 million driver licenses have been issued globally utilizing Datacard government solutions. And, that number is projected to grow as government organizations recognize the benefits of implementing personalization and authentication solutions that help mitigate fraud, protect identities, and demonstrate service improvements to their citizens.
Datacard Group’s driver license projects span globally over a wide range of delivery models, processes and environments – which enables the company to continuously learn from the large base of projects and offer insights to customers and partners for identifying key considerations and market drivers. In North America alone, 18 million of those driver’s licenses were issued in over 15 states and provinces.
Globally, Datacard Group projects that the number of driver’s licenses issued each year will continue to increase as more and more programs transition to increased security features such as laser engraving. For example, the entirety of the European Union has already taken the action to mandate all driver licenses to be laser engraved polycarbonate cards.
HID announces EDGE EVO
HID Global announced the release of its EDGE EVO Solo IP-enabled solution that brings intelligence and decision-making to the door for customizable-networked access control. As a single-door solution, EDGE EVO Solo is part of the company’s new EDGE EVO open and scalable controller platform that enables a range of access control functionality, including real-time monitoring, report generation and the use of the system hardware for complimentary applications.
EDGE EVO Solo is a remotely managed stand-alone solution that utilizes a standard web browser and does not require software to be installed on PCs. It also provides the ability to power all devices around a door using Power over Ethernet, reducing total door installation costs by removing the need to install a separate, dedicated power supply. EDGE EVO Solo utilizes less expensive CAT5 wiring compared to traditional structured cable, and it can be fully upgradeable to an EDGE EVO Host solution as access control demands increase.
AMAG Technology certifies Quantum Secure
Quantum Secure is now a member of AMAG Technology’s Symmetry Extended Business Solutions Program. The designation certifies that Quantum Secure’s SAFE Software Suite Version 4.8 integrates with AMAG’s Symmetry v7.0.1 access control software.
The certification ensures that all types of physical identities, including employees, visitors, vendors and contractors, get provisioned into the Symmetry access control system based on the predefined rules and policies set within SAFE. The SAFE agents listen for data updates and changes in near-real time from an authoritative data source, such as a human resources management system or an integrated database management system.
Based on workflows, the SAFE agents broadcast these changes to the Symmetry access control system. Integrated functionalities and features include bidirectional cardholder synchronization; bidirectional access code adds and deletes; automatic active/inactive cardholder updates; and simple, intuitive configuration and user experience.
