National Express Dundee is launching Scotland’s first ever smart card-based pay-as-you-go service for bus travel.
The new service, supported by sQuid, will work with Scotland’s National Entitlement Card (NEC), allowing customers to pay for bus fare quickly and easily with a tap of a smart card.
sQuid is providing the eMoney service for NEC smart cards and will do the same for the National Express Dundee travel purse.
According to NEC program manager Sid Bulloch, more than 1.5 million NEC cards have already been issued across Scotland.
The new service is expected to launch at the end of the year following installation of smart card readers on National Express’s entire bus fleet.
