Braswell Memorial Public Library, located in Rocky Mount, N.C., has launched a new RFID program that will help with inventory control and circulation purposes, according to the Rocky Mount Telegram.
Visitors simply choose a stack of books and DVDs to borrow, pull out their RFID library card and place it on the scanning bed alongside the RFID tagged items they want to check out. A receipt is printed and they’re out the door.
The new self-check stations aim to create shorter wait times for checking out materials, and free up time so that library staff will be able to provide service to customers who want or need help.
