Biometric identification technology provider Neurotechnology has received the FBI’s WSQ Certification. This certification states that Neurotechnology’s MegaMatcher and VeriFinger SDK fingerprint compression algorithms meet accuracy requirements spelled out in the Wavelet Scalar Quantization (WSQ) Gray-Scale Fingerprint Image Compression Specification, Version 3.1.
The 3.1 version is the most recent standard for fingerprint image exchange in the biometrics and criminal justice fields, and it promotes interoperability and efficient access to FBI criminal justice information services among government agencies. The certification extends to other countries, many of which adhere to the same standards.
The WSQ Specification standard applies to the exchange of 8-bit, 500ppi fingerprint images through a defined class of encoders and decoders. Various Neurotechnology platform implementations have received seven FBI WSQ certifications.
