Miami-based biometrics developer, Innovative Solutions Integrative Systems (ISIS), has announced the development of a biometric solution for border and immigration control. The new device, called Immigration Customer Visa (ICV), is a card carried by visa-owning travelers into the United States that contains an embedded fingerprint scanner and the means to authenticate both the individual and their immigration status on the spot.
ISIS officials believe such a device could be a huge asset to border control agents as the ICV is designed to easily integrate into the Department of Homeland Security systems and its ease of use would be expected to speed the flow of traffic at border entry points. The patent pending technology would also be ale to track immigration statuses in real-time alerting officials of when an immigrant’s visa has expired.
