Enterprise networks, vehicle fleets and perimeter gates have new options to future proof user authentication via new contactless ELATEC readers. There are dozens of RFID and contactless card technologies in use globally, and this creates challenges for organizations implementing access control beyond the front door.
Commercial and government organizations using multiple card technologies across different locations can rely on a single reader across locations and systems.
Many contactless readers are designed to support a small number of card types, but ELATEC readers are universal, reading more than 60 transponder types as well as smartphone Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Near-field Communication (NFC).
Commercial and government organizations using multiple card technologies across different locations can rely on a single reader across locations and systems. Device manufacturers and software developers get a virtual single-part number solution that allows them to sell into practically any market globally.
“The ability to reconfigure and update our readers remotely is a huge cost advantage for ELATEC’s customers,” said John Tepley, President of ELATEC USA, Inc. “Many of our customers have a high number of geographically distributed assets. Since they don’t have to send out a technician to each one to perform manual updates to change security or end-user requirements, they avoid expenses that more than pay for the initial cost of the reader.”
New ELATEC readers
A new line of ELATEC readers, to be launched in Las Vegas at ISC West, April 10-12, 2019, include:
- The TWN4 Slim embeds into machines and devices, and using clip-on covers, is mountable into printer chassis cavities for invisible integration. The ultra-flat, compact reader/writer supports LF, HF, NFC and BLE.
- The TWN4 Palon Panel Reader is a compact multi-technology reader/writer in a secure, rugged housing for panel mount applications supporting enhanced interfaces, especially RS-485.
- For devices that don’t support the direct connection of a proximity card reader such as those with no USB port, the TCP3 USB-Ethernet Converter enables a direct connection to extend card-based access.
