Giesecke & Devriant chosen to provide Iraqi ePassports
Giesecke & Devriant announced that it will be the primary manufacturer and provider of e-passports to the Republic of Iraq with its HIGHSEC passport solution.
The new, machine-readable passports will meet the requirements for international travel set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization, with the first batch of credentials to be delivered before year’s end. In addition to the passport credentials themselves, the partnership with the Republic of Iraq will see G&D also provide card printers and accessories to aid in the personalization of the documents.
All components of the machine-readable HIGHSEC passports will be provided by G&D, while the company’s Munich-based subsidiary, Papierfabrik Louisenthal,will undertake the production of the 48-page identification credentials by supplying the security paper complete with cylinder mold watermark.
DigitalPersona acquires Identity Stream, adds to secure banking portfolio
DigitalPersona announced the acquisition of Identity Stream, a biometrics-focused organization specializing in the positive identification of customers and employees of financial institutions.
Identity Stream’s software solution is marketed by banking software company Temenos, and is branded under the moniker T24 Biometrics. The solution has reported growth in emerging markets with its “one touch” identification for any transaction in the Temenos T24 core banking system.
Identity Stream’s solution suite identifies customers and employees by scanning their fingerprints and matching it against an identity profile stored on a secure server. DigitalPersona plans to enhance the application by integrating it with its line of biometric hardware and software designed for strong authentication. Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, the Company will continue Identity Stream’s partnership with Temenos.
LEGIC, remes forge new partnership in the automotive industry
LEGIC has announced a new partnership with remes GmbH, who has has been developing and distributing proprietary test systems for the automotive industry since 1986.
The partnership will see remes leverage backwards-compatible products from LEGIC. remes’ long-standing relationship with the automotive industry has been producing components for controlling special car equipment. The company is known for its custom systems integration solutions, most notably CarSharing systems that are primarily outfitted to BMW vehicles.
DigitalPersona ‘s PIV-Certified FAP 20, FAP 30 OEM modules smallest on the market
Biometric identity verification specialist, DigitalPersona announced the availability of two new solutions: the U.are.U 5200, a PIV-certified, FAP 20 fingerprint module, and the U.are.U 5300 PIV-certified, FAP 30 fingerprint module and reader.
The new solutions are smaller, lighter and offered at a lower cost and are specifically designed to meet the needs of government, finance and healthcare mobile ID customers around the globe. Field experience and standards are driving a demand for fingerprint readers with larger active reading areas.
The principle benchmark set is NIST’s Mobile ID FAP standards, as laid out in “Special Publication 500-280: Mobile ID Device Best Practice Recommendation Version 1.” The publication specifies the active capture dimensions for specific Mobile ID use cases and is seeing an increasing adoption rate worldwide. The U.are.U 5200 Fingerprint Module and U.are.U 5300 Fingerprint Module and Reader provides customers with solutions that comply with FIPS 201 and PIV as well as the FBI Mobile ID FAP 20 and FAP 30 standards.
Silanis, Thursby partner for field e-signature solution
Silanis has announced at the Smart Card Alliance’s 12th Annual Government Conference that it will offer secure e-signing in the field using an iPad.
The solution uses Silanis’ e-signature app in conjunction with Thursby Software’s PKard Reader, to allow government users to quickly complete business transactions without requiring access a laptop computer or printed paper documents.
Using the iPad, a user can securely access documents stored in an email using their CAC or PIV card with Thursby’s PKard Reader. To electronically sign the documents, the user simply launches Silanis’ e-signature app. The Silanis e-signature app leverages existing infrastructure and processes, supporting both personal devices (BYOD) and government-furnished equipment (GFE), as well as both standalone initiatives, or those that are part of larger, third party mobile app store, mobile app or device management initiatives (MAS, MAM or MDM).
Giesecke & Devriant to provide Common Access Cards cards to Defense Manpower Data Center
G&D has been awarded a contract that will see the company provide the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Manpower Data Center with FIPS 201, PIV certified identification and physical/logical access cards.
FIPS 201 is the U.S. Federal Government standard that specifies Personal Identity Verification requirements for Federal employees and contractors. The Common Access Card is the standard ID card for active duty members of the Uniformed Services, Selected Reserve, DoD civilian employees and eligible government contractors. CAC and PIV are also the principal cards used to enable physical access to buildings and controlled spaces and for logical access to the DoD’s computer networks and systems.
The new partnership with G&D will see the DoD leverage the company’s long-standing history in security technologies. With millions of smart cards used for identification and authentication deployed around the globe, DMDC partnership with new supplier G&D is set to commence immediately.
Datacard Group expands its MX Series platform
Secure ID and card personalization specialist, Datacard Group has revealed the latest addition to its central card issuance product suite, the Datacard MX8100.
The MX8100 system targets high-volume applications, allowing Datacard to support virtually any global card program spanning payment cards, identification cards, driver’s licenses, etc. The MX8100 joins the rest of the MX Series Platform — MX6100, MX2100 and MX1100 card issuance systems — as part of the company’s complete central issuance portfolio.
The MX8100 system is now the fastest high volume card issuance system from Datacard Group with a rated speed of up to 3,000 cards per hour. Additionally, the MX8100 allows for up to 40 modules to be configured in a variety of combinations within a single system.
