NIST awards contract for iPad and iPhone security testing

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded a $44,000 contract to Videotape Products of Burbank, Calif., to test the security of two Apple product for government use.
As reported by Infosecurity, the contract launches a pilot program intended to determine how NIST users can safely use the Apple iPad and iPhone for government work.
While the Apple products are popular with users, the iOS has been proven to have security flaws and is prone to jailbreaking. Although Apple is working on patches, the NIST pilot will test the security levels for government use.
