Checkpoint Systems Inc., a New Jersey-based provider of security and tracking devices for the retail sector, announced Monday that it will purchase RFID software maker OatSystems.
The two companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, beyond that it is an all-cash transaction which is expected to be closed within the next two weeks.
A spokesperson for Checkpoint indicated the company plans to maintain OatSystems as a separate division headed by current OATSystems President and Chief Executive Michael George, and operated out of its current headquarters in Waltham, Mass.
Checkpoint plans to grow the division but could not say how many more employees would be hired in the process. OatSytems also maintains a development office in India, and a global network of direct sales offices and resellers; Checkpoint has not indicated any plans for this portion of their acquisition.
