Onity’s electronic locks can now be integrated seamlessly with the housing software system from StarRez, making it easier for colleges and universities to manage their on-campus housing. The integration eliminates the need for manual input of student data while also making it easier to update changes, such as new room assignments.
Traditional systems usually require college staff to manually input data, such as student names and room assignments, from one system into another. This new interface will exchange key housing information to and from the StarRez and Onity Integra systems.
“This interface will save time for system administrators, students and staff. It also integrates key components of a college or university’s back-end infrastructures,” says Tom O’Connell, commercial sales manager for Onity, part of UTC Fire & Security. The partnership “is a natural fit, given the synergy between the products and services we both provide to our customers.”
If a student changes his or her housing arrangements, “that information is updated in the StarRez system, which then immediately updates all of the remaining Onity systems,” says Frank Dyer, Onity director of product marketing for North America. “It becomes a one-step process for clients with more immediate, more secure results for colleges and universities.”
Adds Joe Lindwall, StarRez’s vice president of marketing and business development: “There’s a need for this solution among colleges and universities of all sizes. People in higher education are being asked to do more today than ever before, and time, energy and ease are extremely valuable to them. This integrated solution will immediately improve day-to-day housing operations by ensuring the accuracy of resident access information and by making any changes in resident status immediately available to the Onity system.”
