Orange has announced plans to bring its NFC business and consumer products to T-Mobile by the end of the year.
According to Mobile News, T-Mobile and Orange’s 50-50 joint venture Everything Everywhere previously said it would not launch NFC contactless payments on T-Mobile, leading critics to believe the UK-based MNO was favoring its Orange leg. On the contrary, Everything Everywhere says it is bringing NFC to T-Mobile, as well as other new products such as Orange’s Pocket Landline and other fixed-line services.
Everything Everywhere vice president for wholesale and M2M Marc Overton, commented, “As soon as the underlying architecture is stable and customers are on that, then T-Mobile customers will have fixed-line products. The plan is to make them available by the end of the year.”
