Expired parking meters may be a thing of the past, at least for students at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, which recently installed a pay-by-phone system. Developed by a Canadian company, Verrus Mobile Technologies, Inc., a student who has signed up for the program need only call a number, enter his time and the lot’s location.
Students can also add additional time to their parking balance through their cell phones as well.
So far, just four campuses in the U.S. have implemented this program, including the University of Miami, University of Wisconsin, University of Colorado and Yale University. At Texas Tech, students can sign up for the pay-by-phone parking service online.
