Pharmaceutical conference looks at RFID security
The 2009 INTERPHEX conference, an international gathering of pharmaceutical industry professionals and technology providers, will include a panel discussion looking at ways to securely implement RFID technology in the pharmaceutical supply chain. The panel will include members of the RFID Security Alliance (RFIDSA) as it looks at the security and privacy issues facing the industry as it increasingly adopts the technology.
The panel will take a close look at the pharmaceutical industry’s security models, both before the advent of RFID technology and today. The discussion will focus on the potentially competing concerns of consumer safety and patient privacy and how the use of RFID applications factors in to this equation.
The RFIDSA was founded as a resource for the RFID industry. The organization works to drive market education and discussion about security and privacy issues surrounding the use of RFID in a variety of applications and industries. RFIDSA members appearing at the INTERPHEX conference will include RFID developers, pharmaceutical executives and consultants from both industries.
The 2009 addition will be held March 17-19 in New York City, with the “Securely Implementing RFID in the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain” panel scheduled for the afternoon of March 17.
