Ping Identity announced a collaboration with Microsoft to deliver integrations that expand the functionality of Azure Active Directory, Microsoft’s Identity and Access Management as a Service solution for logical access. Through this relationship, Ping Identity solutions serve as a bridge to expand secure remote access and single sign-on from any device to more on-premises web applications for Microsoft Azure Active Directory customers.
Many enterprises, including 85% of Fortune 500 companies have embraced Azure AD as the identity platform for managing logical access to thousands of cloud SaaS and on-premises applications. Azure AD handles more than 1 billion authentications daily to more than 9 million directories. However, connecting the full set of legacy and custom on-premises apps to these environments can be challenging. This integration with Ping enables enterprises to expand SSO access to even more of their on-premises web applications. The result is secure single sign-on for all applications for all users on all devices and clouds, without the need for a VPN.
Ping and Microsoft will deliver an integrated solution of PingAccess and Azure Active Directory Application Proxy in early 2017 to enable secure access to a spectrum of on-premises web applications for logical access. Azure AD Premium customers can use the integration to connect up to 20 apps at no additional cost. For more than 20 applications, full PingAccess licenses may be purchased.
Microsoft will also list PingFederate as an additional authentication option in Azure Active Directory Connect, along with Password Sync and Active Directory Federation Services, for customers who choose Ping Identity for federation to Azure AD.
