PositiveID receives initial order for 15,000 RF iGlucose units
PositiveID Corporation announced that it has received an initial order for 15,000 of its radio frequency iGlucose units from Liberator Medical Holdings Inc. Liberator Medical offers products to Medicare-eligible patient populations with chronic conditions requiring repeat-orders of maintenance supplies.
The implantable glucose-sensing microchip consists of a radio frequency-powered molecular sensor that uses a combination of the analyte binding surface chemistry with micro electro mechanical system technology and radio frequency inductive powered sensing.
The system consists of a small cradle that connects to any data-capable glucose meter to automatically communicate diabetic’s blood sugar readings to the iGlucose online database in real-time.
The iGlucose system automatically queries a diabetic user’s data-capable glucose meter for blood glucose data and sends that data via encrypted SMS text messaging to an online database. At the patient’s discretion, blood glucose data can also be forwarded to physicians and caregivers at predetermined intervals.
