PRECISE BIOMETRICS DELIVERS PRECISE MATCH-ON-CARD™ LICENSES FOR YET ANOTHER NATIONAL ID CARD PROJECT
LUND, SWEDEN — Precise Biometrics AB, a Swedish company which develops and sells world-leading and user-friendly biometric security solutions based on fingerprints and smart cards, has once again won an important tender for national ID cards. The project includes licensing of the Precise Match-on-Card™ technology, which will be integrated in ID cards for all of the country’s inhabitants.
The project means that Precise Biometrics, which is part of a consortium together with its partner, has been awarded the tender for the provision of the ID cards in a small country. The order comprises licenses for Precise Match-on-Card™ technology and the delivery will start during the first six months of 2008. Information regarding which country the order refers to can from business reasons not be communicated until the next quarter at the earliest.
With the Precise Match-on-Card™ technology the biometric identity check can be made directly on the card. This means that the check can be performed off-line without requiring an external databases, a feature which is becoming an ever more important parameter for national ID card projects where higher demands are raised as towards protection of personal integrity.
“As previously communicated, we believe that the national ID card project is a long-term endeavour and that it often takes several years before necessary decisions are taken by national authorities and necessary political processes are finalized. We are extremely satisfied to be able to say that in many of the countries which have issued ID cards it is our Match-on-Card technology that has been used. Our perseverance has now been even more worthwhile and we look forward to forthcoming projects around the world,” says Thomas Marschall, President and CEO of Precise Biometrics AB, in conclusion.
