A professor at the University Wisconsin Milwaukee accidentally sent out a mass e-mail containing the personal information of some 33 former students, according to a campus news report.
The message was intended to notify students of their program advisor’s name but instead mistakenly contained an attachment with roughly 33 former students’ personal information including GPAs and Social Security Numbers.
UW-Milwaukee’s IT department was able to remove the message after being reported by a student but not before some 10 students could open it.
Another 4 students had the message forwarded to another email which the IT department has no control over.
