Pune, India launches smart card water tanker filling system

In an effort to conserve water, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a smart card-based water tanker-filling system in two filling stations in the city, according to indianexpress.com.
The system, installed in the Yerwada and Chatuhshringi stations, enables tanker drivers and contractors to use pre-paid cards to automatically receive the exact amount of alloted water.
PMC officials say that the new system ensures exact measurement of water dispensed through water filling station and grants PMC access to proper records of each transactions.
