Punjab police to receive smart cards

The police force of Punjab, India is upping security by issuing smart cards to officers, according to indianexpress.com.
The plastic ID cards will contain unique serial codes designed to help check for security breaches.
The new cards are also designed to eliminate the problem of forgery by criminals to commit offenses, which was an issue with the previous paper “I-cards.”
Top officers have already been issued the smart cards, with the rest of the force soon to follow.
