ABI Research has released a new report finding that total shipment of Bluetoooth, NFC, ultra-wide band (UWN), 802.15.2 and Wi-Fi Internet connection sharing (IC) devices is expected to increase 20% in 2010r, according to ZDNet.
“Bluetooth unit shipments are expected to exceed 58% of the total short-range wireless IC shipments in 2010. Wi-Fi ICs rank second place in this market, making up approximately 35% of the total shipments, with the rest of the shipments is accounted for by NFC, UWB and 502.15.4 ICs,” said ABI research analyst Celia Bo.
Bo went on to explain that combination chip solutions that integrate two or more short-range wireless technologies will be deployed in hundreds of millions of electronic devices due to their lower cost and smaller chip size, paving the way for expansion of the short-range wireless IC market.
