Raritan Valley Disposal, New Jersey is partnering with Recyclebank to promote everyday green actions allowing 7,600 customers to have access to new RFID-enabled carts and recycling rewards, according to the Hunterdon County Democrat.
With Recyclebank, when a bin is collected a scale/RFID reader on the mechanical arm of the waste truck weighs the amount of recycling, records the number, and issues the appropriate number of Recyclebank points. The points can then be redeemed at hundred of national and local business partners.
The program comes at no additional cost to Hunterdon County households. All they have to do is sign up with Recyclebank and verify their home address to receive rewards for recycling.. Recyclebank members earn five points for every two pounds of waste recycled.
The Raritan Valley Division further said it has already seen a jump in weekly recycling volumes where they offer Recyclebank and they are looking to expand the program further.
