The annual RFID World conference and exhibition has a new name. United Business Media International (UBMi) has announced that the 2009 edition of the event will be called The RF Edge Expo, and will now highlight a wider range of automatic identification technologies, including newer hybrid tracking technologies and tracing solutions now entering the market.
“RFID technology suppliers have been at the forefront of a move to expand computing power and functionality to the further edges of the enterprise network, and The RF Edge Expo reflects that trend,” says Timothy Downs, a strategic director for UBMi. “Enterprise users and integrators require information and demonstrations of RFID, as well as other solutions. We believe our community of technology suppliers will benefit from one exhibition that showcases a wide variety of edge computing solutions to tag, track and optimize assets, people and processes.”
In addition to the rebranding of RFID World, UBMi announced plans to produce an online news and information portal under the RF Edge name. The company is also working on specialty conferences and seminars focused on Food Traceability and IT Asset Tracking.
The 2009 RF Edge Expo will be held October 12-14 in Dallas.
