A sold-out exhibit space, three-days worth of breakout sessions, and San Antonio, Texas, await some 450 campus card professionals when they convene for the 11 th annual National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) conference March 14-17.
“There is something for everyone,” said NACCU’s chair and conference co-chair, Cindy Vetter of the conference at the Adams Mark Hotel in San Antonio.
Five separate educational tracks are slated for the conference:
- Beginners, focusing on the foundations of card systems;
- Technology, including magnetic stripe, smart chip, biometrics, and TCP/IP;
- Business, such as techniques and ideas for growing a college’s ID card program and business;
- Marketing & Innovations, including the key to a successful program and one-stop shopping, the medical addition to the one-card system, and issuing additional cards; and
- Gold, with presentations from NACCU’s Gold Corporate members.
“We have sessions geared towards attendees who are just trying to start a card program, and we have advanced sessions to assist schools that are looking to expand or incorporate new benefits into existing programs,” said Ms. Vetter, Director of the card program at the University of Northern Colorado.
A popular event, “Sales Pitch Sunday,” first begun in 2002, will be back for this year’s conference. “It gives vendors an opportunity to truly do a sales pitch to a room full of attendees,” said Ms. Vetter. “It also provides a non-intrusive environment for attendees to hear all the features and benefits from various companies so they can do comparisons and gain more information without having to do a request for information on their campuses. This has been a huge success and we are now seeing other associations adopt this type of program.”
Vendors expected to participate in Sales Pitch Sunday include Wells Fargo, CBORD Group, Equitrac, Blackboard, Onity, Datacard, Higher One, Diebold, Pharos, Vision Database Systems, PERSONA, and Quentrix.
“The biometric panel,” said Ms. Vetter, “will be a new program that will allow everyone to get a feel for what biometrics are all about and how the technology is being incorporated at other schools.” Serving on that panel will be J.D. Sawyer, Johnson and Wales University, Denver; David Siegel, Emory University; Amir Mohammadi, West Virginia University; and Cathy Tilton, SAFLINK Corp., chair of the Biometrics Standards Committee.
Rounding out the conference will be the sold-out trade show of 51 exhibit booth spaces.
“Additionally, we will be having a number of entertaining events, including an off-site opening reception at the Institute of Texan Culture,” added Ms. Vetter.
