Software designed to help companies meet Sarbanes-Oxley mandates or comply with HIPAA requirements by assuring that the right people have the right access to the right information, was recently announced through a partnership of silex technology america, Inc. and Sig-Tec. The software, combined with silex’s fingerprint devices, allows enterprises to provide biometric authentication for access to PCs or computer programs, and physical access to buildings or rooms containing sensitive information, such as medical records.
New Software Provides Enterprises With the Ability to Manage Fingerprint Authentication Through the Network
SALT LAKE CITY – silex technology america, Inc. announced it has partnered with Sig-Tec, the software division of Signus Medical LLC, to provide enhanced authentication software that can be easily managed through the network for use with its family of biometric fingerprint devices.
The proprietary software delivers enriched networking capabilities that allows enterprises to provide fingerprint authentication for access to PC’s, computer programs, mobile computers and physical access to buildings, rooms or storage facilities containing sensitive information through the enterprise’s network.
The software suite can manage a full range of single to multifactor implementations from access to physical doorways to notebook computer authentication that goes far beyond other security options. The network- capable software eliminates the need for administrators to manage and configure the devices at each individual computer or doorway. Furthermore, if de-provisioning becomes a necessity, an organization’s IT staff can immediately deny access to people who are no longer employed or have lost privileges.
Due to an ever increasing need for corporate and data security, companies are facing the challenge of selecting, integrating and deploying appropriate biometric hardware and software. silex and Sig-Tec now offer enterprises a complete platform that will accelerate deployment and reduce problems and risks associated with managing disparate authentication solutions from various sources.
This offering will assist enterprises in achieving Sarbanes-Oxley mandates, and facilitate healthcare organizations’ HIPAA compliance by assuring that the right people have the right access to the right information.
“By combining the solidly proven silex fingerprint readers with Sig-Tec’s powerful authentication software solutions we can provide all the biometric authentication and access services for organizations in various industries,” said Gary Bradt, Vice President of Biometric Division for silex technology america. “The new scalable and network-capable solution is easy to implement and boasts one of the highest accuracy rates available.”
The software is available with all silex fingerprint devices including: * FIC-200 * FUS-200N * MUSB200-COMBO * COMBO MINI * FPA-70
“This new biometric solution, with its nominal user training, will provide an easy to use, yet sophisticated level of security without hampering productivity,” said Thomas Hoghaug, Sig-Tec president. “These proven biometric and authentication technology applications allow organizations to meet the challenges of rapidly changing risks and emerging standards.”
The new Sig-Tec authentication software will be available with all silex biometric fingerprint devices beginning in Q4′ 2004 through silex resellers nationwide.
