The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has placed an order with Hitachi Asia Ltd. to supply passive RFID technology that will enable the Singapore Government to track various emergency equipment at all sixteen fire stations island wide.
The Singapore agency will be provided approximately 13,000 passive RFID tags and 55 RFID handheld readers with a customized client-server application for managing tagged equipment records, synchronizing data between the handheld RFID readers and server and managing user access control.
The Hitachi solution will be utilized to enable tracking of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, portable pumps, and other various items aboard SCDF’s main operational emergency vehicles.
The RFID solution will replace SCDF’s existing manual checks during shift duty changes and recovery of equipment at incident sites; a time-consuming process, also prone to human errors.
