Sirit lands $6.6 million renewal deal with Bay Area Toll Authority
Toronto-based RFID provider Sirit has announced that the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA) has placed a toll transponder order valued at $6.6 million over the next fifteen months. The order includes two options to purchase up to $1.7 million in additional toll transponders.
The order calls for Sirit to deliver 410,000 Title-21 based toll transponders for use in authority’s FasTrak cashless toll payment system.
According to the authority, approximately 112 million toll paying vehicles cross the seven state-owned bridges in a year. Of these,
approximately 60% currently use FasTrak toll transponders during the peak commute period.
The authority expects to begin distribution of transponders under this order in late October 2009.
