Sonoco-Alcore, producer of fiber-based tubes and cores used for the packing of various types of paper, announced that it is using UPM Raflatac Dog Bone RFID tags to help customers reduce costs through real-time inventory tracking.
Sonoco is using the technology in the production of its Intellicore carriers to allow customers to follow rolls through the supply chain process with real-time tracking and location information.
The RFID tags are embedded in the cores during the winding process and tested to ensure functionality. One market already using Sonoco’s Intellicore carriers is decor paper.
Utilizing RFID technology, Sonoco-Alcore hopes to provide customers the ability to reduce costs associated with lost inventory and manual labor many companies currently use for inventory tracking.
