Stollmann and COMPRION have partnered to automate the NFC Forum’s device test application. Automation of the test application will help to reduce overall test time and error-prone activities associated with the Forum’s digital test cases.
Testing specific protocol or application behavior is often necessary to trigger certain communication patterns. When testing NFC, the Device Test Application (DTA) specified by NFC Forum carries out this task.
A DTA is an application that resides on the Implementation Under Test (IUT), which prompts very specific communication data patterns on lower communication levels, verifying device behavior as required by NFC Forum test cases.
Traditionally, test operators have to start DTA scripts and select the desired test case manually. The Stollmann and COMPRION partnership has agreed upon a simple and powerful data exchange format that enables the configuration of a batch of test cases on a centralized server as opposed to on an individual basis.
The server communicates with both the IUT and the test management software and runs both the DTA procedures and the matching test cases simultaneously. This eliminates a lot of the error-prone manual labor and cuts test execution time dramatically.
Stollmann has already implemented the NFC Forum DTA into its NFCStack+ product. The DTA can be run on NFC-enabled Android devices and using a WiFi connection or similar link the application can also be remote controlled.
