Student payments on campus made possible via mobile phone, India
Union Bank of India has launched a cashless campus project at Madhya Pradesh State Technical University that allows students in the university to make payments by using their mobile phone, according to The Hindu Business Line.
The new student service reduces queuing times as it frees the university’s approximate 2,500 students and staff from the hassles of time-consuming cash and check transactions.
Union Bank is currently talking to Gitam University in Andhra Pradesh, which has more than 10,000 students, about possible adopting a similar system. The bank also hopes to do business other institutions in Madhya Pradesh and institutions in other states.
