Tascent raises $18.5M, Entrust Datacard updates credential software

Tascent closes $18.5 million in funding
Tascent Inc., a biometrics and identity company, announced completion of an $18.5 million Series A funding round to build upon its biometric technology platform.
Earlier this year, Tascent acquired AOptix Technologies’ Identity Solutions business unit. The Series A round enables Tascent to develop new high-throughput iris recognition and mobile biometric identity solutions, expanding its presence in government, enterprise and other market sectors.
Tascent offers solutions for both fixed and mobile iris recognition, and its products are deployed at Dubai International Airport, London Gatwick Airport, and several high security facilities in the U.S. The company has a offices in the U.S., UAE and Singapore.
Tascent will be featuring its high-throughput iris recognition systems and a preview of its next generation mobile identity product family at the Global Identity Summit in Tampa, Florida (Sept. 21-24).
Entrust Datacard releases updated credential software
Entrust Datacard announced the most recent release of the Datacard TruCredential Suite Software, version 7.1. TruCredential software is used to issue a variety of credentials such as student, faculty or visitor IDs; employee or contract badges; patient and staff health care IDs; credentials for local government programs; membership and customer loyalty cards; and transit passes.

Integrated smart card personalization support. Users now have access to pre-built encoding support for leading smart cards, making card personalization and troubleshooting easier.
Updated data and enrollment capture capabilities for capturing physical and logical cardholder data, which allows for more easily establishing a trusted identity.
The Datacard TruCredential Software is available in multiple editions and is compatible with a wide array of Datacard printers and third-party technologies, thereby allowing organizations to easily scale from a single to a multiple user/workstation environment or an enterprise-wide application without increasing complexity.
Gemalto releases cloud-based encryption application
Gemalto announced the availability of its SafeNet ProtectV solution on the Azure Marketplace, the online store that for applications and services ready to deploy in Microsoft Azure. Gemalto’s SafeNet cloud-based encryption solution enables Azure customers to encrypt and protect their most sensitive data and applications in the cloud while maintaining compliance requirements and achieving high levels of data protection.
According to Gartner, the market for cloud system infrastructure services worldwide is expected to grow to $42.7 billion by 2019. Businesses are turning to elastic cloud services like Azure to run business-critical applications, but security and compliance remain top concerns.
SafeNet ProtectV solves this challenge by delivering a way to protect the most sensitive and highly-regulated data in the cloud. By encrypting entire virtual machine instances and attached storage volumes, SafeNet ProtectV enables customers to separate security administration duties, enforce granular controls and establish clear accountability with audit trails and detailed compliance reporting.
HID offers long-range UHF option for parking garages
HID Global expanded its iCLASS SE platform with long-range ultra-high-frequency solutions that provide new options for opening doors and parking gates from a distance. The addition of long-range iCLASS SE readers and credentials enables organizations to combine parking gate and door access control on a single card. The convenient solution makes it possible to read credentials from inside vehicle at distances of up to 16.4 feet (5 meters) from the reader.
HID Global’s long-range solutions portfolio includes a new rugged and weather-resistant reader that has been optimized for outdoor use and features encryption along with end-to-end communications technology for the industry’s highest level of UHF access control security. Also available is a dual-technology iCLASS SE and UHF credential for use with the UHF reader and other iCLASS SE platform readers, providing a single solution for seamless door, parking and gate control.
Galaxy Control Systems earns FIPS 201 certification
System Galaxy from Galaxy Control Systems has earned FIPS 201 certification and is now on the GSA-approved products list in the PACS Infrastructure category.
System Galaxy is a scalable, enterprise-class access control and management solution that integrates security and building management functions. Additional features include active directory support to enable real-time identity management, individualized identity-based door access and the ability to generate specific reports for each screen view or credential holder.
Data can be shared with other systems such as time and attendance, visitor management, time clocks, parking garages and personal messaging.
MorphoTrust achieves ISO certification for card production
MorphoTrust USA has achieved a high certification for superior security standards in its credential production process from the International Organization for Standardization. The certification, ISO 14298, governs security printing and specifies the highest possible security requirements for certain printing systems.
MorphoTrust achieved the certification at one of its credential production facilities operating in an undisclosed location in the United States, making MorphoTrust the first ID manufacturer in the Americas to receive this certification. The company has issuance systems that produce 80% of the nation’s driver licenses.
With this ISO certification, MorphoTrust has been recognized for taking significant steps to reduce, eliminate, and prevent security threats to the ID production process as identified by an independent organizational risk assessment.
