Telos awarded $160 million DOD contract

The General Services Administration, on behalf of the Defense Manpower Data Center has awarded Telos Corp. a five-year, $160 million contract to provide Common Access Card printer consumables and inventory management services to support the agency’s identity protection and management programs.
Under the contract, Telos will provide color ribbon, retransfer film, laminate, and cleaning kits to support smart card printers, which are located at more than 2,000 issuing stations worldwide. The Common Access Card serves as the main identification card used by DOD military and civilian employees and select contractors to gain access to facilities and information systems. DMDC has issued more than 15 million of the credentials worldwide.
Telos collaborated with Fargo, L-1 and Datacard printer experts to research, design, test and develop the most reliable and cost-effective consumables that will withstand harsh environments and meet government security requirements for Personal Identity Verification cards. Telos has received its first order for these consumables, which is valued at $1.7 million. The contract runs through September 29, 2013.
