Texas gears up for the new school year, launches student ID system

The Lubbock Independent School District, Texas is getting ready to launch a new student ID badge system designed to facilitate everyday activities and better maintain the safety of students on campus, according to a local news report.
Starting this year, student and faculty members will receive badges at no additional cost. The badges will grant privileges used for textbook exchange, library checkout, and they are going to support moving through the lunch lines at the cafeterias.
School officials said this is not only a good way to keep the kids safe. It is also a way to familiarize staff with their students.
