ThingMagic unveiled the latest addition to its embedded RFID reader product family, with the announcement of the Mercury6e ultra-high frequency RFID module.
Based on the Impinj Indy R2000 chip, with a 6 dBi antenna the module has a read rate of up to 400 tags per second at a read distance of over 30 feet. It also has four antenna ports, which eliminate the need for a multiplexer in some applications.
It supports multiple protocols and delivers built-in USB and RS-232 connectivity. Using only 1 watt, the M6e is designed to the standards of full size RFID readers, but is small and efficient enough to be used in many mobile applications.
Performance is kept by ThingMagic’s software defined radio architecture, which supports remote upgrades, new tags, new RFID standards, security improvements, and other system advances as they emerge.
