Gemalto, NXP and Infineon have introduced a mobile contactless solution compliant with the single wire protocol standard and with NXP’s MIFARE infrastructure. The three companies are demonstrating the new technology at the Mobile World Congress that’s underway in Barcelona, Spain.
The handset demonstrated at the show included an NFC controller from NXP complemented by Gemalto’s secure single wire SIM card incorporating an Infineon flash microcontroller that’s compatible with MIFARE.
Adding MIFARE compatibility, the new solution is intended to enable users to benefit from any contactless service on his mobile phone. For example, users will be able to travel across various cities, pay in shops, access their company premises and benefit from loyalty programs by simply tapping their NFC-compliant phone.
