Toppan Forms and TF Payment Service (TFPS) have partnered to add an NFC twist to the “re:new Tohoku” exhibition in London’s Asia House.
The exhibit, which wrapped up yesterday, featured a variety of Japanese made products including furniture, cookware and other hand-crafted goods from areas affected by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Each item was accompanied by an NFC-enable poster that displayed additional information on the product and manufacturer when tapped by a visitor’s NFC phone. The posters also connected the visitor to his or her Facebook profile where they could share their impressions of the corresponding item.
In the lead up to the event, NFC-enabled promotional fans commonly given out in Japan were given to Londoners that could be tapped with an NFC phone to give more information about re:new Tohoku. The fans also enabled visitors to access information on the products they had seen at the event.
Toppan Forms and TFPS provided the NFC placards, the Facebook application and the printing of these materials for re:new Tohoku. The event itself was developed by Japanese Greats and IMD Inc. as part of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “Cool Japan” initiative that aims to promote Japanese designed and manufactured goods from areas affected by the 2011 disaster.
