Argentina-based Ausol Autopistas del Sol has selected TransCore’s RFID eGo Plus windshield sticker tags and Encompass 6 reader technologies to upgrade its legacy electronic roadway toll collection system.
The contract includes 150 Encompass 6 readers and more than 200,000 sticker tags over the next three years. Initial system installation and integration will be complete by first quarter 2011. TransCore technology will now be interoperable with all nine of the separately owned toll roads in Buenos Aires, which allows motorists to travel throughout the Buenos Aires toll road network using a single electronic tag.
Using an RFID tag-on-a-chip ASIC, the eGo Plus sticker tag offers a read range of up to 31.5 feet and 2048-bit read/write memory. In addition, the tag provides the capability to read, write, rewrite, or permanently lock individual bytes.
The Encompass 6 reader is an integrated high-speed, multiprotocol 915 MHz RFID reader system that is ideal for high-speed, multi-lane installations with a requirement to read or write to two tag protocols or to provide a migration path from an existing tag protocol.
